Commemorating 200 years since the founding of Devonport
During those 200 years, the community has experienced profound change; moving from a hugely prosperous, independent town to become part of the City of Plymouth in 1914; experiencing profound physical changes following extensive bombing in WW2; and major transformation through the regeneration of the last two decades.
Devonport 200 will mark the moment, explore multiple and diverse histories, recognise the many achievements, celebrate local communities, and look forward to future opportunities and challenges.
To do this, Real Ideas, a Devonport based organisation has worked with a partnership of key organisations to deliver a yearlong programme of co-produced activities, culminating in the Dazzle festival to ‘light up’ Devonport in late February 2025.

Building on experience delivering Illuminate, Real Ideas Organisation will transform heritage buildings and public spaces with stunning light projections bringing the past to life.

27th 17.30 – 18.30 Local community ‘first look’: a special hour exclusively for Devonport residents to experience the magic of the festival before it opens to the wider public at 6:30pm.
2 March 17.30 – 19.30 Quiet opening: offering a more accessible and inclusive experience for visitors who may find loud sounds and busy crowds overwhelming.
